Why New Zealand pigmyweed is a problem in Lichfield
On Lichfield properties, New Zealand pigmyweed tiny fragments regrow into dense mats on pond margins and damp ground, and it spreads on footwear, tyres and machinery. Lichfield's Minster Pool and old canal wharves near the Wyrley and Essington Canal offer damp, disturbed banks where knotweed thrives, spreading along the Cathedral city's railway corridors and former gravel workings on its outskirts.
